Abominable (2006)
This movie looks like a total joke at first, but it's actually pretty fun. It's about Bigfoot, or a creature similar to Bigfoot, terrizing some people at adjecent condos way the hell out in the woods somewhere. It also terrorizes some of the locals. I guess it's supposed to be having a really bad day, after a prolonged period of not killing people.
The cast is... pretty fricking amazing, really. It has Jeffrey Combs, Lance Henriksen, Dee Wallace, and Paul Gleason, all in fairly minor parts but they do have some great lines. Tiffany Shepis is in it too! She must have a few fans here... You will probably also recognize Phil Morris, even if you can't quite remember where you have seen him before.
The main character is played by Matt McCoy, who has been in tons of things over the years. You will recognize his face, even if you didn't know his name. He plays a guy who is in some kind of psychological rehab after losing his wife six months before. His psychologist told him to go to this condo out in the woods to get a little rest and relaxation, and sent a guy with him to take care of him. (The Matt McCoy character is in a wheelchair, he needs someone to help him out). The guy who is supposed to be taking care of Matt McCoy is a complete dickhead/asshole, who kind of looks like Morgan Spurlock. He's on some kind of power trip, because Matt McCoy is in the wheelchair and he isn't. There are also some very cute women in this, so, that doesn't suck.
Basically, the killer Bigfoot thing attacks various people for the first half of the movie, whittling down the cast. At one point, the Morgan Spurlock guy stops being a jerk for the final three or four seconds of his life, and does not live to regret it. He dies in a really memorable, gruesome way... he gets his face bitten off, in a way that is difficult to describe... the Bigfoot put his lower jaw into the guy's mouth, and hs upper jaw over the top of his head, and just bites the whole upper front part of the guy's face off. It's pretty awesome.
Eventually, Matt McCoy and one of the cute girls (who is actually named Haley Joel, but I don't know if she is any relation to THAT Haley Joel, HJ Osment)... Matt McCoy and Haley Joel do some creative problem solving, and.. well, I'll let you see for yourselves.
Anyway, it's not a bad movie at all. It's funny when it wants to be, gorey when it wants to be, has cute girls, and a decent body count... can't ask for more than that. Two thumbs up from Tommix.
