Joker

I wanted to see this in theaters, but I had no window for it. I was never too keen on the casting of Joaquin Phoenix from the start, but I found it promising when they announced that Robert De Niro would be in it and that Scorsese would be producing. Apparently, Scorsese was more of a consultant as he isn't listed in the credits, but damn if he isn't an inspiration. This film was heavily inspired by Taxi Driver, so it makes sense.

This movie will make you wonder about its continuity a lot, but that's part of the game. Here, we watch a man with a bad string of luck and he is definitely unraveling. It's a very well thought out effort and it provides a few ideas that I surprisingly never thought about before. Weird shit that plays with your mind about the entire mythology of Joker and why he does what he does, and why he likes to toy with Batman so much.

As it's own stand alone movie, it's an experience. I feel it would be a disservice to talk more in depth about the plot, but Joaquin really pulled it off. His life is hilarious.
