Fright Night 2011

I will always prefer the original FN, but the 2011 version has some good points. I was just watching it (the 2011 one) and I admit it got me sucked in a little, ha ha. There's one point when Charlie says to some of his supposedly cool new friends "It's just game, man. Rock solid game." I think I actually said out loud, under my breath, "Oh, you're so cool, Brewster," when he said that. So, OK, I was quoting the original, but at least I have to admit that the new version provoked a response.

I also like the scene where he goes over to Evil Ed's house and talks to E.E.'s parents. They really captured the sense that he and Ed had been friends, but had grown apart to some extent... the parents are glad to see Charlie, but definitely a little uneasy and nervous at the same time. They have no idea, of course, that their son has already been transformed into a blood sucking Hell-thing.

I also thought Imogen Poots did a decent job as Amy. She made a plausible American girl. I've had a crush on her for a long time, sooooooo it's always good to get a chance to see her in anything. I like how Amy wears that sweater thing that somehow ends up looking like a classic Hammer female vampire outfit. I wonder if they did that because she's British?!? I have no idea.

Anybody have any thoughts on this movie?
