#TheLastThanksgiving 2020
This one is both a Thanksgiving horror and a turkey!
A few people get stuck working at their restaurant job on Thanksgiving. They don't want to be there, and they don't want any customers either. But alas, they get more people than they bargained for when a family of tradition-obsessed psychos want to make these workers into their dinner.
It's a cheap little movie, but it's not without merit. It's mean-spirited, has some good vibes to it, gore and special effects, a small role by Linnea Quigley to (not) make it respectable, and a decent score. In fact, the score is a big rip-off of Halloween 2018. It's got a bit of Texas Chainsaw Massacre and The Funhouse in it, too.
It sounds pretty great, but don't go in with high expectations. It wont blow your mind, but it's definitely decent for a turkey.

It's #TurkeyChallenge month! Watch some shitty less-than 5.0 rated IMDb titles with rules similar to the previous years. I don't know the specifics at the moment, but I can and will do better this year, compared to my last year's 0 viewings.

I can't believe #EscapeFromNY and #EscapeFromLA both just became a reality in a single day. It's all rigged. Fuck Newsom and fuck Mamdumi.

@Tromafreak, how is F.A.R.T. the Movie?
I see it has 11 writers, so I'd expect an Oscar-worthy story.

#TheRunningMan (2025)
Edgar Wright brings us a new take on thisRichard Bachman Stephen King story. The 1987 Arnold flick is a lot of fun, and this new one pays tribute to it in a few ways. The logo, a great Arnold reference, and the nature and aesthetics of the gameshow are all there. Glen Powell does a good job as Ben Richards, an honest worker who agrees to do the show to save his sick daughter, and Josh "I'm in every movie these days" Brolin plays Killian, the immoral gameshow showrunner.
There are plenty of differences, but a few similar beats. I'm guessing this is probably closer to the book, but who knows or cares. They're both fun movies, but an Arnold movie always wins for nostalgia and the fact that I've seen it a dozen times and it's shorter. Instead of a single outing for survival in a set playground, the runner needs to make it to 30 days wherever the hell he get to. This allows a lot of dystopian future tech like drones and autopilots, and incentives for commoners and runners alike.
There are worse ways to kill 2 hours. Worth at least one watch.

#PredatorBadlands (2025)
Disney will be shitting out all kinds of Alien and Predator movies now that they have the rights, so what's the word on this one? From the same director as Prey, this one already seems like it's in capable hands. Killer of Killers was also decent for an animated film, so this guy clearly has a lot of ideas for Predator content.
Our story begins on the predator home planet, Yautja Prime. Dek is our main predator, and at an average human height, he's considered a runt. His brother Kwei kicks his ass and his father is so embarrassed by him that he wants him dead without giving him a chance to prove himself. Kwei thinks that's a bit harsh, so instead of giving him the mercy killing that dad orders, he kicks him off the planet so he can at least attempt to get his trophy. Dad doesn't like that one bit and kills Kwei, motivating Dek to get his trophy at all costs, then kill his dickhead father being such a massive cunt.
Dek is sent to Genna, also known as the "death planet". Everything is out to get him there. Even the fucking trees want you dead. Plants, animals, you name it. He soon encounters the upbeat Thia, half of a synthetic that's been somewhat crucified, and reluctantly decides to use her as a tool for his under-equipped journey through the badlands as he seeks out the kalisk, a seemingly unkillable creature.
I honestly had no issue with the predator's look. They wanted to differentiate him from your expected predator aesthetic, but you also have to consider that not all predators look the same. And if you think they do, then you're probably racist.
There's also a good reason ElleFanny Fanning is only half a character in this. She's got a big ol' butt that would be too distracting if it was in the whole movie.
I like how they utilize Weyland-Yutani in the movie. They're still obsessing over bio-weapons, and they're finally focused on something other than the xenomorph. There are various synthetics in the movie, most of which are corporate henchmen, and there are also a few other interesting alien species in the film.
Dek learns a bit about humility and teamwork, the adventure is quite entertaining, and it's good enough to finally get Arnold interested in coming back. I'm assuming that will be in animated form as per the extended ending of Killer of Killers, but I'll take it.
As for the PG-13 rating, don't worry. There's plenty of "gore", but apparently, it doesn't count if it's against alien species and robots. Like in Evil Dead 2, the MPAA will let you get away with more blood so long as it's any color other than red.
