Shall i stay or should i go
As some here may know I'm living with a girl in Barcelona, i have been since Christmas.
Needless to say moving here from nz was a bit of a jump, though not the first time I've made such a leap.
Anyways this concerns me and the gf.
Now it hasn't been going the best between us for a while, even back in nz i had my doubts about her, i even wrote a long post to one of her friends ultimately asking him if she was taking any medication, as she would go from happy to super angry, upset over literally the smallest unimportant things. I.e was she bi polar? Is this crazy behaviour she does just normal for her? I had never seen anything like this before. Though after sending it with WhatsApp to him i decided to delete it a couple of hours later before he read it. Ok so i did come here thinking perhaps she we be a bit more sane when I'm actually there, hmmmm :) haha yeah right that was gonna work
Arriving here i quickly came to the realization she's not actually a nice person at all, not just not nice, she can be a downright asshole talking about about people she has never met, if i try to defend these people then i open myself for attack also. 'หZed how can you not see this, why are you not agreeing with me' etc, ultimately i have to agree with whatever the subject is cause that's the only way to stop her talking about a subject incessantly. I'm not exaggerating i think the subject is closed and thank God for that, and then an hour later, out comes her abuse of whatever the subject is again. So tiring. Over and over again, I've never experienced anyone who behaves like this before, eye opening to me. And then there's the attacks on me personally, seems whatever i do it's just wrong, such a negative person i have never met. She wonders why sometimes i don't mention things to her? God sometimes I'm almost afraid to mention anything for dear of awakening her criticism, she complains about her mum doing this to her, but apparently she is totally unaware that's exactly how she behaves to me. She has a complex about her mum's behaviour and from what she has told me about her mum, that's warranted. The thing is, perhaps that's true, but perhaps that's not true, but now i know her far better i have no idea what to believe, she speaks total BS so often, for the longest time i thought, oh she's knows she's lying and doesn't want to admit it but now after conducting tests i have come to the conclusion she is not lying!!!, she actually believes the crap she says! No matter how easily proven false it is, even presented with reality and being told this is reality, its like she sees something else, it's so so weird, i have to fight to stop myself pointing out the obvious weak points in her stories. I now come to understand Donald trump better from living with her. So many times she professes to know more about a field from some googling than the scientists who actually have worked in the field for years. So much hubris. So much unearthly self belief in herself. Perfect dunning kruger specimen
So Why am i still here?
Well i still like her, i still think i can change her :) even still, though i know it's not gonna happen, i see a lot of myself in her, yes i've never been so extreme, and I'm now more aware of these flaws in myself, she actually makes me try and improve myself, which is good.
Also i like Barcelona, and speaking Catalan, learning some Spanish also is beneficial, i like knowledge.
Also seeing parts of the countryside that i haven't seen it's also cool.
And most important she is my twin, we are soooo similar, yes i know this sounds bad but hey that's part of the reason i love her
So what say thee

Lords of Chaos
What a glorious mess of a film.
Directed by the guy who briefly drummed in Bathory on their first album, "Lords of Chaos" tells the story of Euronymous, guitarist of Mayhem and founder of Norweigan black metal and the "true events" that transpired in the early days of that scene - suicide, church burnings, murder and lots and lots of heavy metal posturing.
We've all heard about these ghastly, now legendary stories over the years so when I found out they were making a movie version of the events, I was stoked. Even after I saw the trailer which left no doubt in my mind this is a comedy.
It's a disaster in more ways than one. The acting. The delivery of dialogue. The shifts in tone which go from lighthearted, teen angst type fare to scenes of disturbingly brutal violence. The whole movie is just "off" but I'm guessing the director felt it was necessary to balance out the grim subject matter and make it more palatable for the masses. Especially people who are completely ignorant to black metal in the first place.
I doubt it was ever intended to be the ultimate statement on these crimes, much less an accurate one. But what it is is a pretty entertaining broad overview of what happened with more than likely some major embellishments and moments of disturbing, graphic violence of the old school practical fx variety.
Moderately recommended.

I finally watched this last night
I didn't feel like the revenge part of this movie done very well. It is kind of strange that she wanted to play with her rapist prior to killing them. Also, she is such a small woman, and the idea of seducing and then killing her rapist just doesn't seem very practical. Overall, it was just ok and nothing really special. I don't think it deserves the reputation it has.

Potential new Rawhead Rex movie
Could be a new reboot for Rawhead Rex.
I've heard there's a new Hellraiser starting from scratch coming as well.

The Neanderthal Man (1953)
So I had this movie as the second feature on a blu-ray with The Beast of Hollow Mountain.
So a scientist creates a serum that can regress evolution. He tries it on a cat which turns it into a sabretooth tiger and eventually on himself.
Standard fare for 50's movies. When people mention the term B-Movie this is the sort of thing that comes to mind for me. It's not much good but I didn't mind watching it for the sake of curiosity.

Reasons why Australia Sucks
So last week, blokes caught this big arse mother fucker in the Northern part of NSW. They found Jaws!

A couple of days ago, this image went viral of this monstrosity covering an electricity meter in Queensland.

Oh and while we're on the point of spiders. This happened to Goulburn a couple of months back.

Yeah that's not snow.

The fucking city was raining spiders. And they were EVERYWHERE! Yeah raining goddamn spiders! Uhuh! Uhuh!!! Hell no!
A place where snakes can eat crocodiles!

Someone rescue me from this god forsaken place!!!

Them! (1954)
This is available On Demand right now, for another day or so. (It's also available in shitloads of other ways, of course, but that's not important right now).
One of the interesting things about this movie, to me anyway, is that you can see Edmund Gwenn (who played the elderly entomologist) acting in some scenes together with Sandy Descher (who played the poor little girl who spends most of the movie in shock). Edmund Gwenn was born in 1877, when Hollywood didn't even exist yet, and Los Angeles only had about 10,000 people. He started acting in London in the 1890's... I think it is wild to see him in scenes sitting and standing right next to Sandy Descher, who is still alive today, and who isn't even THAT old today. She was born in late 1945, so she's 73 now. I wonder if she ever goes to horror conventions, maybe she has some interesting thoughts about this.
It's kind of funny to hear James Arness speak his lines. He sounds a lot like his brother, Peter Graves. I keep expecting him to say lines from Airplane!.
It's also interesting to see the way the filmmakers were usually very much on the side of the military, even when the military had to lie to the public. Certain scenes would not have been done in nearly the same way, a couple of decades later. I'm trying to imagine Close Encounters of the Third Kind, or E.T., etc if the filmmakers were totally on the side of the army. I can't even imagine it.
The giant ants look pretty stupid, of course, but anyone would have to be kind of a dick to care too much about that. You can really see the effort the actors put into the movie, it's a great effort given the constraints of what was possible in 1954.
It is also interesting to see how the population density of the time is presented. There are gigantic ants crawling and flying all over the southwestern US, and there are only sporadic, widely dispersed sightings. Imagine if it really happened, and in today's world?!?! There would be tens of millions of people like the shocked little girl, overwhelming mental hospitals.
Anyway, it's a pretty interesting movie. Anyone have anything to say about it?

Kevin Smith
What a guy. I just heard about the Stan Lee cameo in Captain Marvel, and now I really want to see the movie. For just one joke. About Mallrats (1995).
Kevin Smith is currently doing another Jay and Silent Bob movie, because his other efforts never get greenlit. Wtf, Hollywood? Then again, he worked for Miramax a lot, so you might wonder if the Weinstein scandal has negatively affected his influence in the world of cinema. It's been a damn shame that he doesn't get his movies made. I want a goddamn Clerks 3 in my life. I want MallBrats, the tv series. I want Moose Jaws, the end of the weird Canada trilogy. Give this guy the money, you idiots! Give him all the money!
