Vampire Slayer 🌐 ⚠️ NSFW
Luke Perry

I am deeply saddened by the news of Luke Perry's passing. I have only watched a few movies, and shows he has been a part of, but I loved him in everything I have seen. For starters, he was Dylan McKay on Beverly Hills 90210. I loved this show growing up. It's a lot of drama, but it was something I could watch for hours and hours, and Luke Perry's charater was my favorite. He was the heart throb bad boy that everyone wanted, and it worked. I will always love the show because of him, and I am sad that he will not be in the revival later this summer.

The next thing I remember seeing him in was the movie Buffy the Vampire Slayer. He played Pike. The guy who wins the Slayers heart, and ends up helping her out with her destiny. After recently watching this movie again, I was able to see how his character inspired some of the series. For example, I do not think Spikes personality would have been the same if Pike didn't exist first.

Luke Perry has been involved in two of my favorite universes. First in Buffy, and then In Criminal Minds. In season 4, episode 3, he was Benjamin Cyrus. Cyrus wasa cult leader, and the episode itself is based on the 1993 Waco siege. Luke Perry's character is one of my favorite criminals on this show. He was bone chilling, and yet I hung on to every word. He was hypnotic, and even though he was hurting the characters I had come to love, I wanted him to win. They picked the perfect person to play the leader of a cult.

Currently Perry was Fred Andrews on Riverdale. I realize this is a CW show, and some people just look down on it because its on the CW, but he played the loveable dad that was always there for his kid. Trying hard to make sure his son had a good life. When he became the target of a psychotic serial killer he had the whole town backing him. His portrayal of this character has brought love for him to a whole new generation.

These are just a few of the projects Luke Perry has worked on. And he did amazing. I know we all dont have the same tastes in movies or TV shows, but Luke Perry's passing has bothered me a lot. All I can say, is the next season of Riverdale, and 90210 is going to sad to watch. Rest in Peace Luke Perry.

Afternoon Rant

Since my rant used like 12 shouts I guess I'll just post it all here.

Look, Troma's and I's beef is between us. You guys don't know the vial PM's he had sent, nor the hatred he has stirred up. According to him Box is just a little bitch and I'm nothing more than a giant pussy. There is no place for that here. Yes I changed my avatar. I think it's funny and was a response to him claiming I'm trying to replace him and changing his title to be a passive aggressive dig at box and I. I could have just had a long yelling and pissing match with him on here as we have done before and cause more shit, but instead I turned my avatar into a joke. I'm sorry if that somehow offends you Markus, but no one owes Troma loyalty here. If you want to leave, I can't stop you, but I do like what you contribute and you seem to be a pretty swell guy. I really hope that my attempt to make Troma and I's spat more light hearted doesn't run you off. He accuses me of abbusing power, but it is he and only he who has abbused powers and editted accounts and posts to be a dick (which is why he started losing priviledges in the first place).

I want to be very clear. I'm not here to dictate anything. Or tell anyone how to post or exist. My powers here are reserved, of my own volition, for the unfortunate cermumstance that Box is unnable to run things or dies. That is it. Other than that I really hold, and desire to hold, no priviledges or power over you all. I am opinionated, but please and I want to be very clear, understand that my opinions are not backed, nor enforced by my privileedges on here. I have never, and will never use my priviledges to change post or stiffle an opinion. If I say I think something, it's just that; my thoughts. Don't think or fear I'm going to force them or enforce them in anyway shape or form. That being said I love you all and really do aprriciate what everyone contributes to this site. I care a lot for @Box and this site means so much to him. I've seen him put years of real time into this site and I in no way aim to hurt that.

@Markus, I'm sorry you think we have beef. Until this morning I honestly thought we were cool. I get if you are just backing Troma, but as far as you and I squashing a beef, well I didn't know we had one to squash, but if we do just PM me; let's chat. I thought Johan and I were a tad at odds the other day and we just spent 30 minutes chatting and getting to know each other and now I think the world of Johan, and I hope his opinion of me is better for yeterday's chat.

I really do just want a better site for us all.

Taxman

If you drive a car, I'll tax the street,
If you try to sit, I'll tax your seat.
If you get too cold I'll tax the heat,
If you take a walk, I'll tax your feet.
Don't ask me what I want it for
If you don't want to pay some more

That's really it just prepping my return and stewing over how much was taken from me. (Although my refund looks to be nicer this year because of the doubled child tax credit)

So I guess rant here if you don't like taxes, or even if you just don't like people that don't like taxes!

About Jeepers Creepers

I found this article. I am aware of what a complete dirtbag Victor Salva is, and that he personally makes all of our skin crawl even more than his Creeper character. But, I enjoy the Jeepers Creepers films, and would like to see more of them. Apparently they are working on a TV show too. If there is any way to legally steal all the profits that would have gone to Victor Salva, and distribute them to his victims, I am totally on board with that. Anyway, I just wanted to share this.

Midday Rant

Wow, what a day on the shoutbox, huh?

Personally, I think the drafts are trial and error. More structure gets rid of those iffy moments of what is and what isn't, and really streamlines the whole process, and solidifies the victors with an award that wasn't polymorphed into some potentially rigged popularity contest. Solid rules help the game maintain absolution, and I can sympathize with der's point of view on that.

Normally, I'll agree that the main goal with the games is to have fun. I think we need more of those going around, because they've been fun so far. Gives me more stuff to think about for Trash Epics, and I think there's more potential with these kinds of activities, and I'm always hunting for ways to improve the TE experience.

So in regards to the shoutbox, I think there's miscommunication between some of us here, and I want to clear the air a bit. I don't think anyone was intending to come off as confrontational or provoking. I just feel kind of used to it, but not everyone is. I think that's what drove away some users too, was that smug sense of humor a lot of us share.

We've all gotten to know each other over the last few years, and I like everybody here. I know der is upset that people aren't into some of his ideas, and that's a damn shame. I do think the actor draft idea would be pretty fucking fun, so I hope people come around to the idea. Der's got a lot of ideas for this place, and we need more of those going around.

Also, I know Tromafreak is annoyed about the mod thing, but it's only because of a technicality in how I'm editing the code for stuff. Der's status is more like co-admin, in the case for debugging and/or my untimely demise. I edit a lot of files on here, and I need to take extra precautions with that. Troma is still the head mod. I can change der's level to "co-admin" if that helps clarify.

Oh shit! Is it trash month already?! I got the next two days to get some trash watched. I need to make a banner on here to remind me to watch trash, because I'll get too distracted otherwise...

2019 Trash Epics Actor Draft Discussion/Pre Sign-Up Thread

Ok so here is how I envision this working.

There will be 2 distinct groups in this draft and 3 distinct phases leading up to a playoff bracket.

Group One: The Drafters
Group Two: The Voters
Phase One: Population of Pool
Phase Two: Draft from Pool
Phase Three: Voting

The Drafters
During phase 1, the drafters will, in a round robin style, pick 8 actors each, 4 at a time. This will make up the "pool" of actors. Once everyone has selected 8 actors phase one will end.

During phase 2, the drafters will, again in a round robin style, draft 8 actors, one at a time until all of the actors are picked. Once each drafter has 8 picks and the pool is empty phase 2 is over.

During phase 3, the drafters get to sit back and be judged!

During the playoff phase, those who are advancing will then choose an elite team of 5 of their actors to enter the playoffs with. If a player advances to the next round of the playoffs, all actors not used in the previous round must be used. Once the playoff are over a winner will be crowned and the draft will be over!

The Voters
During phase one and phase two the voters have it easy. They don't have to really do anything, but can have fun commenting on choices.

During phase three, before the playoffs, each voter will get 3 votes that they can assign to any drafter. Votes can be split or stacked. Once all voters have placed their votes the votes will be tallied and the top 60% will be named playoff picks. The two drafters closest to the 60% mark, but under it will be made into wildcards. The wildcards get to participate in the playoffs, but for the "wildcard round", the wildcards don't get to pick their 5, instead their opponent gets to select the 5 actors they will be versing. During the playoffs, voters will vote once on each individual match. Ties will be broken first by the opening round tallies and beyond that will be broken by the host (who doesn't participate but does break the secondary tie). This voting process repeats each round of the playoffs until a winner is chosen.

Ideally, it would be nice to have 10 drafters and 5-10 voters, but I can build a valid tournament out of this structure as long as we have 8 drafters and 4 voters.

NOTES:
Deadlines will happen naturally as not everyone's schedules line up. That being said there will be a minimum 1 week viewing period between the building of the pools and the drafting phases. This makes sure both voters and drafters have an opportunity to know who they are picking. I'm thinking of starting this sometime in March.

The essential Albums

Based on Marcus's thread, I'm wanting to expand my listening horizons so are looking for album recommendations, this ain't a competition though there are some rules, mainly cause I dont want some idiot listing 100 albums

1. Only list one album at a time
2. wait a decent amount of time between listing an album, like a week
3. Album has to be on spotify www.spotify.com
4. post a link to the album on spotify

Official Music Draft 2019 Winner: Znep

Now that I am back, and as host, I just want to send a belated emoticon to Znep for winning the Music draft. It was unexpected, but it's always good when an underdog wins. Congrats to Onyx too for coming 2nd. It was a very close tie in the end.

So here are the final standings:

1st: Znep
2nd: Onyx
---------------------
Joint-3rd place: DerTables and Ballz.

Thanks to everyone who competed. It was interesting getting to know everyone's music taste, and picking up a few new acts/recommendations in the process, which was kind of the point in doing it in the first place. Here's to the next one emoticon.

about Richard Jordan

When I think of Richard Jordan, the first thing that comes to mind is probably Dune (1984). He played Duncan Idaho in that. It is interesting to me to note how quickly he aged, before and after that movie.

Look at him in Logan's Run (1976). I think the character he was playing was probably supposed to be in his early twenties, or maybe even late teens. So, that might explain why he came across as seeming young, he was probably pulling out the stops, acting-wise, to seem as young as possible. That character, Francis, is supposed be basically a hardcore mindless badass take-no-prisoners Sandman, who basically just says "Fuck the runners! They're breaking the rules!" and just laughs at them and enjoys his job as he terminates them. A lot of people would have a hard time being THAT soulless even in childhood, but I think the way he behaves suggests that we are supposed to just think he is a high-spirited young man who just isn't very thoughtful, and has not yet taken the time to think through the morality of his job. This is just my sense... I imagine most people here haven't seen Logan's Run in a long time, but if you have seen it I bet you know what I'm saying.

Anyway, Richard Jordan was actually about thirty-seven or thirty-eight when he played that part. I'm not completely sure when they filmed his scenes, but even if he was thirty-seven he had to be very close to thirty-eight. So, he was just playing a character who was supposed to be much younger. Just the fact that he was able to do it at all convincingly means that he wasn't really THAT old, I guess...

Well, anyway, compare how he comes across in that to how he looks in Dune, which was only about eight years later. He seems MUCH older to me. Then compare him in Logan's Run to how he looked in Hunt For Red October (filmed in 1989), when he played National Securiy Advisor Jeffrey Pelt. To me, he looks... I don't know, maybe thirty or thirty-five years older there than he did in Logan's Run, although it was filmed only about fourteen years after it.

To sum up: what a drag it is getting old.

I just think this is striking, I might have mentioned it before on IMDB, a long time ago.
