A TV movie where Matt (James Woods) lives next door to Lenny (Randy Quaid), who is basically a more unhinged version of cousin Eddie. It starts with some minor squabbles like Lenny's sprinklers going nonstop and ruining Matt's flowers, but it exacerbates into something a bit more serious.

The movie seems like it would be a dumb family comedy about rivaly and revenge pranks, but once you realize it's rated R, things get a bit more interesting. Lenny really wants to ruin Matt's life and fuck his wife! How far will he take it? Too far, that's where.

I watched a surprisingly good movie on the Tubi the other day called The Admirable Crichton (1968). Crichton is a butler for this family of rich, British snobs in the early 1900's. They are pretty strict with him as he knows one slip up and he's easily replaced. Crichton has everything down perfectly. Nobody has to ask him twice for anything. Above all, and most importantly, Crichton knows his place. Just the way these rich cunts like it.

The family takes their yacht, along with Crichton and the maid, on a little vacation. Things don't go as planned when they are ship wrecked and end up on a deserted island. The clueless family take for granted that they'll be rescued before nightfall, but Crichton knows better. And he also knows things have to be a little different going forward. The rules the upper class have set for society no longer apply, and as Crichton tries explaining this to the Earl, he is quickly fired. As Crichton shrugs and moves to the other side of the island, he takes the maid with him, leaving the family he once did everything for helpless and starving, but also given a huge wake up call.

As the Earl and his family come crawling back, they are given food and assurance that they'll be taken care of. But things are different now. Crichton isn't just a butler. He is the MacGyver of butlers and he should be respected as such. And just like that, Crichton has become the Alpha. And over the years, this family would be humbled by their experience on the island and their willingness to take orders for everyone's benefit, and ultimately become much happier people and less cunty. So happy, they genuinely have to put serious thought into whether they want to leave or not once the opportunity finally arises.

Best FTV of January! 7/10

#TheToxicAvenger remake (2023? 2024? 2025?)

It took 40 years, but they finally did it. They ruined the Toxic Avenger. This movie is boring and without charm. It's a phony take that misinterprets the source material with a faux punk tone and heartlessly underwhelming over-the-top CG gore. It takes too long to get going and tries to have an actual story, then tries to make up for that by delving into more traditional Toxie antics, but at that point, my interest is way out the window. Fuck this movie.

Yeah, the IMDb importer is broken. Again. I have to reconfigure my scraper to simulate javascript now, so be aware that I'm looking into it. Add your viewings as you normally would, as they can be synced once I get this working.
