Go back in time with Trash Epics

Wrapping up my bout with site styles, I've decided to remove a few of the less noteworthy ones and replace the 'bland' theme with something more appropriate.

Check out the new 'Retro' theme (in light and dark modes) and you'll find yourself somewhere you hoped you'd never see again. A place both familiar and nauseating.

Why do I do these things? Somebody shoot me now.

Horror and horror/comedy short films on Youtube

Is anyone else a fan of these? This one always cracks me up. If you start searching Youtube for keywords like fewdio, daywalt, and cowmaster studios, you can find many more, and if you click on come of them eventually Youtube should start recommending similar stuff to you on its own.

Site Stuff as of late...

Bear with me if I ramble, because I'm drunk and high and caffeinated and snowed in. This place has been pretty stoic lately, so I need to assure people that the world isn't dead. Not yet.

Nobody knows what to do or what to think lately. The world is in a stasis as it waits to get back into motion, and we can all point the finger or procastinate, but why not dwell on garbage and filth? That's what I would do. That's what Indy would do.

I've been balancing a shitty work schedule, an annoying school semester, bad weather, and general disorientation, but I've been working on some stuff nevertheless.

Themes

The site themes have come a long way since I introduced them, and I hope people are using them. I've had a wild hair up my butt to do some redesigns, so you've probably noticed a lot of changes and been annoyed by load times as I've had to mess with a lot of cache settings, but I've learned a lot of cool things from the process, and I've been brainstorming some new original content on a per-theme basis. I would love it if you threw some of your nerdy fangasm ideas at me, because it's hard thinking of random gimmicky shit by myself.

New Users?

Since I'm nearly done reworking the presentation aspects to cater to certain fandoms, I'd like to try bringing in new users. I usually focus on amping up the presentation of the site before I try again, because people want a sexy piece of trash to sit on, am I right? So if they don't like this skin or that one, they've got to like something I've done on here. Right? RIGHT?!

Trash Challenge

I want people to get in on this shit. I always have fun with it, and I plan on watching some dumb shit and writing reviews on it. I want more reviews on here. More talk about shitty movies. I've been trying to figure out ways to incentivize posting, be that with a currency system, achievements, or whatever else comes to mind. We'll need to discuss things if other people are to visit the site. If they don't see activity, they'll never join.


Where the fuck is sfpx? We're on the verge of being sexy enough to lure these people back, but we need a big fuckin' worm on this hook, kna'am sayin'?

New Themes: Evil Dead, Phantasm, Zombie

You're probably asking yourself, "Who gives a fuck about these themes?"

I do, you stupid son of a bitch. Try 'em out in light and dark modes. A few more backgrounds, sound effects, and minor adjustments and I'll be done with all of this shit. Maybe.

Marjorine (South Park episode)

You guys, we have definitely talked about this here before, but I don't see it here. Maybe it was in the shout box... anyway, this is a really funny old episode of South Park, and you can see that it was inspired by Pet Sematary, the short story The Monkey's Paw, and maybe a little The Beast Within (the book, by Edward Levy, not really the movie). It takes a while to get everything set up, but the last... the last third or so is really good. Cartman is sort of an evil mastermind in this, as he sometimes is. I'm always a fan of those episodes.

Maybe some of us here are already aware of this. This guy on Twitter has been splicing Barbara Crampton's face onto women in various movies. If you scroll down, you can view a lot of them. Barbara has retweeted some of them herself, she knows what he's doing. Anyway, sometimes they're funny, sometimes they are entertaining in other ways, but Barbara is always beautiful of course.

The Taking of Deborah Logan (2014)

Hey, has anybody seen this? I saw it a few days ago, and I think I need to watch it again. I mostly liked it, but I am not sure if I'm understanding what happens. I think it might be giving the audience credit for having brains, so we have to figure a few things out for ourselves... I %$^&•?#@!ing hate it when movies do that. Seriously, I mostly do like it, but I am unclear on a few things. Spoilers follow...

It seems like there are at least two possessions happening at the same time, to Deborah, while Deborah is also losing her mind to Alzheimers, at the same time. What a fortunate woman she is.

She is getting possessed by that Desjardins guy (which they pronounce in a strangely Spanish way for a French name... they say it Day-har-deen," as opposed to Day-ZHARD-DAN... but that's not important right now). Anyway, it seems quite clear that she is getting possessed by him, but she is also turning into a snake. Does that mean she is getting possessed by some kind of ancient Monacan snake god? Can she be possessed by both of them at the same time?

Also, the little girl at the end is definitely possessed, but I did not see any snakiness about her. I think she is simply possessed by Desjardins. Did the snake god stay inside Deborah's Alzheimer's ravaged brain? I guess it's possible.

Anyway, I'm pretty sure I need to just watch this again, and pay better attention. If anyone would care to clear any of this stuff up for me though, I would appreciate hearing your thoughts.

Escape from New York (1981)

I'm not doing a full review. I just wanted to mention that I'm wondering if the Frank Doubleday character called Romero was an inspiration for Sting's character Feyd Rautha, in Dune (1984). They kind of move the same way, sometimes, and have comparably weird hair... actually, now that I'm thinking about this, he could have inspired the awesome Brad Dourif character Piter De Vries to some extent, too.
