HG Lewis vs Lloyd Kaufman

Well no I'm not asking whose movies you prefer but I just thought it was cool as title. As a big HG Lewis fanboy I can understand that people see Kaufman and the Troma movies as a follow-up. HGL created the gore and splatter movie while others such as Kaufman continued when HGL left the movie business for a period of about 30 years.
There is indeed a lot of similarities between HGL and Troma flicks:

โ€ข low budget
โ€ข independent cinema
โ€ข no top cast, mostly amateurs
โ€ข acting is average at best
โ€ข no complex storylines
โ€ข not to be taken very seriously

Now one would expect I ought to love Troma movies but I'm yet to find one I actually like. I have heard there was a lot of mutual respect between the 2 directors so I almost feel obliged to find that Troma gem. However if the more popular Troma stuff like Toxic Avenger, Terror Firmer and Poultrygeist were quite a burden to sit through I'm afraid me and the Troma movies don't make a good match. Frustrating as I really want to appreciate all kinds of trash.
It's not that I have many points of critique on the few Troma flicks I have seen. The main thing that puts me of is definitely the humor. I find it infantile, the shit and sex jokes they grow stale on me quickly.

Maybe I understand fans of Halloween (1978) now. Love or hate it, it did indeed set a new standard in the slasher genre and every other movie in this genre afterwards will be compared to it. I understand when people say it has not been matched or bettered.

HG Lewis set a standard in gore and splatter (well it hardly existed before BLood Feast) and I'm yet to find someone who presented it in the enjoyable way the godfather of gore did.

Animation: Disney vs Pixar!

Hey y'all! So for this month, I thought we could do something probably silly, but could be fun.

So, I put together another voting game. All the movies are animation to coincide with this months challenge, and for this one we are doing Disney vs. Pixar. I know it's Disney's Pixar now, but still they were two different companies, and their movies are vastly different.

So the premise of this voting game is to bring out your inner child. You are still going to vote for the movie you like the best, but instead of you now, let's vote in what we would have voted for as a child! These are considered children's movies, so why not let our thinking become that as a kid again! So without further ado, here is our matchups for this round! I'm going to put them all on one, so we don't have so many posts clogging up the Board!

Round 1: Winner Bolded

1.) Toy story vs. Peter Pan

2.) A Bug's life vs. The Lion King(1994)

3.) Monsters inc vs. Alice in Wonderland(1951)

4.) Finding Nemo vs. The Little Mermaid(1989)

5.) Ratatouille vs. Lilo and Stitch

6.) Up vs. Dumbo

7.) The Incredibles vs. Big Hero Six

8.) Inside out vs. Aladdin(1992)

Go ahead and vote in the comments! And have fun.
I know animation movies, or kids movies aren't a lot of people's things, but if you have seen them, or loved them once vote! We're here to have fun!

Ideas for Terminator movie twists

Well, here we are. The 2020s. We finally get to find out if Kyle Reese served in the 132nd under Steve, Joe, or Katy Perry. I'm thinking Katy. Yeah, I know, one of the sequels had him serving under "Justin" Perry, but that was probably just in some kind of parallel universe caused by a time travel goof. I still say it will be Katy.

Speaking of time travel goofs, I was thinking about ideas for future Terminator movies. (Maybe some of these have already been done in some of the recent sequels, I get a little distracted and confused by all the explosions). So, in the first T movie, you know when Sarah C parks her moped at the restaurant where she works, and asks the big plastic restaurant mascot/icon/thing in front of the restaurant to guard it for her. Supposedly she says "Guard it for me, Big Jeff," but I always thought it sounded like she said "Guard it for me, Big Ben." Well, maybe that could be turned into some kind of subplot for a future Terminator movie. Like, maybe the Sarah we see had grown up in a timeline where her restaurant was called Big Ben's, but one of the minor side effects from various Terminators and soldiers going back and forth from the future to the past had caused some kind of minor variation, resulting in the restaurant in this altered timeline being called Big Jeff's. I know, this is just a stupid little detail, but they could use it to come up with a cool twist. Like, maybe the Sarah Connor we see was rescued from some other timeline and dumped in the one we see, and was made to forget being rescued somehow... there are tons of things they could do with that, and use it as a starting point for more plot twists.

Also, when Dr. Silverman is questioning Reese, you know that moment when his beeper goes off? They could make that into a plot point of some kind. Maybe the Dr. Silverman we see is really some model of Terminators, interrogating Reese to get some information that Skynet doesn't have, in the future of some timeline?? Maybe his phone beeping was actually a signal from his computer overlords, telling him to cease a certain line of questioning, or take the questions in another direction. They could do a lot of things with that. Another thing is that when Dr. Silverman leaves the police station, right before the "I'll be back" scene, his beeper beeps again. Maybe that was his computer Skynet overlords telling him to get the hell out of the station before Arnold shows up, or something along those lines.

I bet if someone really looked at the original movie carefully, they could find all kinds of minor details that could be used as jumping-off points for new movies. Anybody got any good ideas????
