What movies did you buy or watch the last two weeks? (9-3)

I missed last week so this one is for the past two weeks.

I got Eye in the Labyrinth and The Intruder from Diabolik DVD the other day. I haven't gotten to watch The Intruder yet but looking forward to it. I've already seen Eye in the Labyrinth on YouTube several years ago and liked it, so as soon as I found out there was a Blu ray I ordered it. Watched it last night and it looks good, though there are no extras on it. From my experience Code Red never does much in terms of special features but they always do a nice job restoring the movies.

Anyone ever seen Dark Angel: The Ascent (1994) ?

A woman destined for freedom manages to escape Hell. When she arrives from the sewers of Earth, she is used to punish Sinners. But the last thing she expected to find was love.

I seen this last night, and I was surprised by just how solid it was. The special effects are superb, the acting is great, and the story is surprisingly good, for what is a low-budget film.

Anyone seen it? What did you think?

Movies that fucked with your mind!!

Whether they be mindfuck movies, or movies that just stuck with you, so you thought about them over and over again...

Lately, with the sci-fi challenge, I delved into Predestination (2014) and it's a very unique movie. I thought about it enough that I wanted to rewatch it again today, and I am. I guess Fight Club was also a mindfuck. I remember when I first saw that one, I made it halfway through, and then I had to leave for a family gathering at Chili's restaurant. Then, my dad got really mad at me, because I'd rather watch that movie than go to Chili's, but fuck it. That movie blew me away.

I was also blazed for my first FTVs of Humanoids from the Deep, but that movie was just cool as fuck. Not for any sci-fi twist reasons, but just because it was so balls to the wall. I guess time-travel movies lend themselves to most the mindfuckery, like 12 Monkeys and The Terminator. I guess Terminator mindfucked me the most, because I've adored that franchise since I was 3 years old.

What movies blew your fucking mind's?!

Anyone else not watching À l'intérieur (2007)' remake?

I haven't watched the Martyrs remake and i will do the same for Inside (2016)

MY PICKS...

Obviously, everyone likes Alien, Predator, The Thing, and They Live. Star Wars and Star Trek have a lot of goofy looking aliens, and Avatar can suck my nuts. The Blob isn't really an alien, per se... so now that we got that over with...

Killer Klowns from Outer Space (1988) - Obviously a classic. Alien clowns make for the best b-movie ever.
Night of the Creeps (1986) - Slugs that turn you into a zombie + Tom Atkins = win.
Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1956) - Much better than the '78 version, IMO. It's kinda slow, but it's great.
The Faculty (1998) - Another body snatcher movie, but very character driven.
Dark Star (1974) - The alien is a goddamn beach ball with hands. Its interactions with Dan O'Bannon are priceless. Idiot!
The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975) - The Transylvanians look just like humans, only they have a greater sex drive!

I've always kinda liked Enemy Mine, too. Dennis Quaid is stranded on some evil planet with weird aliens.

My DVD List

It's been about 10 years since I started collecting dvds. Sadly, they're mostly obsolete now, but that's not gonna stop me from buying more movies with my infinite supply of Amazon gift cards (courtesy of my Bing searches). So considering that, I figured I should get an up-to-date list of my dvds on here.

Since it's hard to distinguish between the several different regions, re-releases, and disc versions... I'm simply going by which titles are available to me given my current selection of discs.

Charles Beaumont (Twilight Zone writer)

Beaumont, Texas is in the news a lot right now, because of Harvey and all the flooding. It made me think of Charles Beaumont, who was a pretty important writer for The Twilight Zone. He tragically died in his 30's of some horrifying disease, or combination of horrifying diseases. Anyway, I used to have a book or two about The Twilight Zone, and it had a lot to say about him... interesting guy.

God I hate people.

Driving to work last night I noticed that every gas station I passed had an enormous line. Later on my break, it took about 5 seconds of googling to find out that there was a confirmed false rumor that Austin was having a gas shortage, and everybody is filling up, whether they need to or not, before we supposedly run out. Of course this rumor is now becoming a self-fulfilling prophecy, as every gas station in town is struggling to keep enough gas in stock to satisfy all the gas horders. Now people whose tanks are on empty, and actually need gas, are being forced to wait damn near an hour in line, and are lucky if there's any left when they finally get to a pump. And by the way, you're supposed to conserve gas when there's a shortage, not horde it, fucking greedy nitwits.

Thankfully, I still have half a tank and have nowhere to be for the next 4 days. Hopefully this is all over by the next time I need to fill up. I just don't have the patience to wait in line for gas. I'd sooner call in sick.

I noticed in our news feed that they're making a Planet of the Apes / King Kong crossover comic.
