Is anyone a fan of those ABC Horror Movie of the Week ?

I recently started to watch these and I really like them. They came came on the ABC network, from 1969 to 1976 and were usually 75 minutes or about in length. They produced many other genres too but I am just dealing with the horror genre here. There were many commercial successful ones like Bad Ronald, Trilogy of Terror, The Night Stalker, Duel, Don't Be Afraid of the Dark (original) but they had a lot of overlooked gems too. Here are all that I have seen as of yet, ranked from best to worst imo:

Duel
The Longest Night
The Norliss Tapes
Scream, Pretty Peggy
The Night Stalker
The Dead Don't Die
A Taste of Evil
When Michael Calls
Black Noon
Where Have All the People Gone
Daughter of the Mind
Killdozer
Dead of Night
She Waits
Satan's Triangle
Gargoyles
Trilogy of Terror
The Night Strangler
Crowhaven Farm
Revenge!
Satan's School for Girls
Night Terror
Cry Panic
The Astronaut
The California Kid
Night of Terror
Haunts of the Very Rich
The Strange and Deadly Occurrence
The House That Would Not Die
The Horror at 37,000 Feet
A Cold Night's Death
Crawlspace
Home for the Holidays
The Devil's Daughter (1973)
The Screaming Woman
All the Kind Strangers
How Awful About Allan
Something Evil
You'll Never See Me Again
Bad Ronald
Don't Be Afraid of the Dark (1973)
The People
Night Slaves
The Victim

What do you think of these ABC Horror Movie of the Week ?

Which ones have you seen ?

What are your favorites?

Producers ruining movies

So Martin Scorsese will be producing The Joker's origin story movie, which will be a part of the current DC cinematic universe (which they're just kind of winging it, at this point). Normally, I'd be thrilled, because Scorsese is the man. I watched The Wolf of Wall Street again not long ago, and that 3-hour movie still captivated me. Scorsese has always made gritty crime/dramas better than anyone else, but DC movies lately have all sucked the big one.

David Ayer was supposed to make Suicide Squad bad-ass. He had a great track record beforehand, and this movie comes along and shows you how much a producer actually knows. Nothing. They turned that movie into a piece of shit, and Robert Tapert turned Evil Dead season 2's finale into a nonsensical piece of shit. The Crow: City of Angels would have been a better movie if the Weinsteins didn't aim to rip-off the original film so much, and let the sequel stand on its own. They've had a reputation of fucking up movies, though. They also messed up Hellraiser 4 and probably plenty of other things.

These goddamn producers think they know everything, don't they? ๐Ÿ˜ก

It's like the scene in Ed Wood where the guy finances his movie, but only if they cast his son or whatever to play the lead. And also, it needs to end with a big explosion... emoticon

Here's a classic example of producer-rape that turned Stimpson J. Cat's epic cartoon into a shambling mess of incoherency when producer Ren Hoek demanded multiple changes, and removed 90% of the film:

TV Episode? Movie? I dunno... Help me!

All I remember is this: It took place in either Arctic or Antarctic. There was a female Eskimo who claimed she was actually a white male soldier, but didn't seem the least bit upset or confused. I seem to recall that he/she was in a prison cell. I know that someone asked him/her if they knew where โ€ขโ€ขโ€ข (โ€ขโ€ขโ€ข being the soldier's rank/name) was, and he/she responded "I'm โ€ขโ€ขโ€ข." It was an odd plot point, as it seemed to have absolutely nothing to do with the story.
It seems like it might have been an episode of The Outer Limits (90's series), but I didn't see anything that fit. Pretty sure it wasn't a movie. I know I saw it on TV.

I know it's not much to go on, but it's been driving me nuts for years. Mainly because I really want to know if the gender switch/confusion had any relevance to the story.

Killer Crocodile (1989)

Now here's a creature feature that doesn't get much mention. Maybe for good reason?

I actually enjoy it though.

These big animatronic killer animals are way more appealing to me than the CG creations of today's SyFy monster movies.

What movies did you buy or watch this week? 8-21

It seems like I just did this the other day but another week is over.

Surprisingly I got the Beyond the Darkness Blu-ray Friday even though it was backordered. I was prepared for a long wait. So that's the only movie I've had time for this week.

Compare Halloween 3 and Terminator intros

Did the music in the intro to H3 influence the music for the intro to The Terminator? Listen to them both, and see what you think. I don't think I've ever really thought about this before. I guess it could just be because they both have that 80's synthesizer music, but it sounds like more than that to me.

The Terminator:

And, just for shits and giggles, the extremely memorable abrupt beheading near the end of Phenomena:

David Bowie in Twin Peaks

The latest episode of Twin Peaks featured the archive footage of David Bowie's character "Philip Jeffires" in the '92 film prequel. I just read that David Bowie was supposed to have a part on this revival show, but he perished beforehand. I'd also read that after Fire Walk with Me, they were hoping to get about 3 more movies, one of the movies would have been about his character).

He died well over a year ago, but I'm still pretty heartbroken about Bowie. I loved that guy...

What movies did you buy or watch this week? 8-14

I suppose the other thread should be deleted but not sure how to do it.

I've ordered Absentia, The Intruder, Beyond the Darkness and Eye in the Labyrinth. Beyond the Darkness is backordered so not sure when I'll actually get it, but the others should be here later this week.

Tonight I took a break from horror and watched one of my favorite 80s movies on Blu-ray: Fast Times at Ridgemont High

Alice Cooper + Deep Purple concert

I went to their show on August 19th 2017 in Dallas. When I got there, they surprised us with an opening by The Edgar Winter Band, and while I'm not familiar with most of their stuff, they were kick-ass. Their touring guitarist and bassist were great, and I got to hear them play Tobacco Road, Rock and Roll Hootchie Koo (Rick Derringer cover), and Frankenstein.

After the intermission, Alice Cooper came out, opening with Brutal Planet, onto No More Mr. Nice Guy, Under My Wheels, Lost in America, some track from his new album, Woman of Mass Distraction, Poison, Halo of Flies, Feed My Frankenstein, Cold Ethyl, Only Women Bleed, I Love the Dead, I'm Eighteen, and he closed with School's Out, throwing a bit of Another Brick in the Wall in there.

His set was entertaining the whole time. Of course, he did some crazy theatrics too. He changed outfits for every song, he went into the guillotine and got his head chopped off and they spewed his severed head blood everywhere, and they had a big Frankenstein guy walking around too. If Alice isn't waving his cane around, he's pulling the sword out of that sheath and chopping shit. It was awesome.

After the next intermission, Deep Purple came out, starting with Highway Star, Strange Kind of Woman, It's Good to be King, Lazy, The Surprising, Perfect Strangers, Space Truckin, Smoke on the Water, Knockin at your Back Door, some song I didn't know, then they closed with Hush.

I'd also like to point out that it was (Deep Purple singer) Ian Gillan's 72 birthday. He wasn't as active as Alice, and seemed to be a bit tired at the start. I couldn't make out what he was saying for the first few songs since the instruments were overpowering it, but he found his groove in the second half and rocked on.

However, the keyboardist of Deep Purple was fucking amazing. He stole the show. He was playing so fast, he looked like he was on fast-forward. I couldn't believe that shit.

It was mostly an older crowd, and everyone was more casual about it, but some guy sitting next to us (me and @der) was drunk as fuck and dancing like a madman. It's always funny when the crowd is calm, then you have a few people going nuts.

It was cool as hell seeing two of my all-time favorite bands. I was sitting near the back, and I couldn't get good pictures. I may post some later, if I have any that are clear enough (doubtful).

Anyone seen Incubus (1966) ?

On a strange island inhabited by demons and spirits, a man battles the forces of evil.

William Shatner stars in this low-budget horror film that might best be described as Ingmar Bergman Meets The Outer Limits, a true obscure oddity. It may be considered highbrow to some, but it is well worth seeking out imo. I liked it, it improved on repeat viewings for me.

Anyone seen it, or heard of it?
