The Black Room (2016)
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt5431600/
I just watched this movie and was an hour into it when I realized it's not a horror comedy, but an actual horror. It reminded me of a Naked Gun movie.

RIP Chantek
Chantek an Oranutan who could communicate through sign language has died today age 39. Star of TV documentary 'The Ape Who Went to College' also became adept at cleaning his room and using tools and enjoyed dining at Dairy Queen. Bless 'im.

Italian Horror always gets so much credit, figured I'd give Spain a little love, as it has given us some truly unique gems over the years. Any fans of this stuff? I've seen quite a few, but mostly 70's Franco. Feel free to add any recs or opinions.

Movies about Charles Manson
Today is the date of the Manson Family murders. So how many Manson-themed movies are there? I've only seen the original 1976 TV movie Helter Skelter, and another one called The Helter Skelter Murders that I never could find out anything about. I found it in a grocery store video rental section when I was in college in the 90s. It appeared to be very low budget and I can't find it listed anywhere. I'm not sure when it was made but at that time I assumed it was fairly new, but by the look of it it could've been made in the early 70s.
There's a bunch of others I only recently found out about and have not seen:
The Manson Family
Manson Family Movies
Manson
Six Degress of Helter Skelter
Are any of these worth seeing?

Best acting in a terrible film
American Honey has plenty going for it, beautiful cinematography, great naturalistic acting, dogs & mescal. However it also has, for me, a lot of negatives: a bum numbing 163mins with dozens of shots that are minutes longer than they need to be. An inordinate amount of musical sing along dance numbers that grate more an more as the film goes on. And a repetativeness in general as the story goes nowhere, seemingly recycling events every half hour or so.
I'm a fan of Andrea Arnold's work, love Red Road (2006) and Fish Tank (2010) was a decent effort but AmHon just frustrated. Almost every actor turns in a good performance, from newcomer Sasha Lane to modern dance loving Indy Jr wierdo Shia LeBeouf. Yeah i said it, he is pretty good in this. While it's a little unfair to call this a 'terrible' movie (it isn't) it did get me thinking about the best acting performance in the worst film.
I thought Da Vinci Code was an absolute mess, but Paul Bettany's flagellant monk was awesome. Jodie Foster in Elysium, or The Brave One, or Panic Room... thinking about it i reckon Walken & Henriksen must've been in a few.
Top spot has to be Gary Oldman in Tiptoes (2003), where he plays a dwarf alongside Peter Dinklage. Oldman spent the shoot on his knees or in the sofa (see below) giving Day Lewis a run for extreme method staying in character.
Soooo... which shitty films have the greatest performances in your opinion?

Your Favorite Witch Movie(s) ?
I think this may have been done a few months ago, so I apologize in advance. Okay, so there may not be as many (good) movies to that of the vampire and zombie sub-genres. However, there still are a fair few of decent-to-great witch movies out there. They can be pretty atmospheric and creepy when done in the right way, with the right characteristics and components. I have constructed this list of what I really like (rated 7 and over) in the sub-genre. There are still a few I have to see, namely The Witch (2015) and Blair Witch (2016). In order:
Suspiria
Viy
Demons 6: De Profundis
Il demonio (1963)
The City of the Dead
Inferno
Night of the Eagle
Strange Obsession
Black Sunday
Bay Coven
The Blair Witch Project
Black Noon
Crowhaven Farm
Shadow of the Hawk
Mother of Tears
Lisa and the Devil
The Witches (1966)
Simon, King of the Witches
Baba Yaga
Hungry Wives
El monte de las brujas
Stranger in Our House

Anyone a fan of Fantastic Planet (1973)
I remember watching this years ago. I was pretty intoxicated when I seen it, but it stuck with me ever since. If you are expecting a simple cartoon, you are in for a surprise. It is a hard film to evaluate. It is one of the trippiest things you'll ever see, but on the other hand, it can be seen as a moral tale. Minimalist, thought-provoking, mezmerizing and bizarre, are words best used to describe it.
Anyone seen it? What did you think?

Peep's losing picks...
...or perhaps winning picks. Whatever the case may be. I am typically like Even Steven in this game.
My 30-1 shot just finished 2nd in the Woody Stephens, so I cover some bets with my WPS wager.
In the Met Mile I've got Awesome Slew, and hopefully alive to either Tapwrit or Multiplier in the Belmont.
The winner of the turf sprint probably broke the world's record, but they're reviewing the time.
It's a good day to be at Belmont!
