Tiger King Scripted TV Series Starring Nicolas Cage
So, I just read that there is going to be a Tiger King tv series. At first, I thought it was a joke, but nope it's true. The best part is that Nicolas Cage will be playing Joe Exotic! I'll be watching this one. I can't wait to see how Cage plays Joe. I wonder who will be playing Carole Fucking Baskin? This is going to be amazing! ๐

Nancy Drew and the Hidden Staircase
Today I watched the most recent Nancy Drew film. It came out last year, and I have to say I really liked it. Growing up, I was a huge Nancy Drew fan. I read all of the books, and the series is the reason I fell in love with mysteries. So naturally, I am drawn to any adaption of this series. The first one I watched came out in 2007, and it was good, but it was only loosely based on the book. They created their own mystery with the character. And I loved it. I watched it all the time, and wanted to solve my own mysteries.
Last year, the CW adapated the books into a series. I have only watched a few episodes, and from what I have seen it doesn't really connect with the books. Nancy is older here, and her teenage antics are seemingly done. I gather that the series is going to take a darker turn than the earlier books. But we shall see.
As for this movie, I loved it. The Hidden Staircase is book two of the Nancy Drew movies, and it follows it pretty well. Nancy and her father move back to a small town, where Nancy continuously is in trouble with the sheriff. From here she meets an old women who believes she is being haunted. So Nancy, and the girls niece team up to solve the mystery.
The movie is great. If you want a movie to watch with your kids, or just a nostalgic mystery. Plus it's great for this months challenge.
I will leave you with a question, did you guys prefer Nancy Drew, The Hardy Boys, or was there a different mystery series you liked?

The Birds of Prey Movie
I hate movies in the DCU, which constitutes all this Justice League continuity garbage. They had potential, but they squandered it when they turned Suicide Squad into a PG-13 plotless piece of shit. Somehow, that movie made Harley Quinn an icon. Maybe it's because Margot Robbie is sexy? Maybe it's because comic superfans have a raging hard-on for the character? Either way, that movie revitalized her notoriety and deemed a sequel/spin-off as a necessary endeavor. Why? Because why not? The DCU has nothing good going for it, so why not make another gamble?
When this movie came out in theaters, I was bad-mouthing it. I knew it would be a stupid shallow piece of junk just like the last one, so I hated on it and I hated on it hard. Of course, the DC streaming service put out the animated Harley Quinn cartoon and that was a refreshing change of pace. It's Batman: The Animated series, but for perverted adults. What's not to love? With my newfound appreciation for this tired fetishistic character, I decided to give the movie a shot. I'm not always a naysayer. Just most of the time.
The movie begins with Harley trying to eat a breakfast sandwich. And my God, what a sandwich! It's such a good looking sandwich that I've decided right off the bat that I sympathize with her character when she goes through the traumatic experience of losing said sandwich. It's an overlying arc throughout the movie of the little things she loses, such as her sandwich, and her hyena, and her trust in Asian cooks. Some things escape us, but we persevere beyond the loss of our lovers, and dignity, and sandwiches...
Ewan McGregor also makes this movie a lot of fun. He takes a relatively underutilized primary villain and makes him all gay and misogynistic. You can tell he had fun with the role, and so did Margot. She apparently did a lot of her own stunts, so kudos to her.
This movie isn't deep. It's not original. It's not going to change your life, but for what it was, I didn't hate it like I thought I would. I got a few laughs out of it and the fight scenes were okay. Not overly feminist, and in my opinion, a slight step in the right direction.

90s Horror Comedies
I was just thinking, the 90s don't get much respect when it comes to horror. But, what about horror comedies?? Consider that the 90s gave us Army of Darkness, Cemetery Man, and Braindead. I mean, wow. And, some people might stick the Buffy the Vampire Slayer movie in there too. And arguably Friday the 13th Part 9, Jason Goes to Hell.... that is far less of a comedy than the other movies I'm mentioning here, but I would say it's probably the 3rd funniest of the franchise, after parts 6 and 10 (X).
Anyway, if you think about it, the 90s can really hold its head up as a very solid, respectable decade for horror comedies. Had to share.

How have you been keeping busy?
Everything on the news is Covid this, Corona that. Quarantine, social distancing, blah blah blah. Quite frankly, I'm getting sick of hearing it. Either way, most of us are stuck at home and have got dick to do. Not me though. I'm still moderately essential. Someone's got to stock the toilet paper, right?
So what have you been doing in this economical downtime? Please, ramble on and tell us how you've been wasting your time, because I really do want to hear it! I can ramble on and on about what I'm doing, but I don't want this to be about me. Just know that I AM doing TE stuff, whether it shows or not.
What's everybody been up to?

Movies about Plagues?
Alllll righty then, we have the coronavirus to worry about. Beautiful. Just... beautiful. It sounds like, over the course of this month, things should get a hell of a lot scarier. So, what better time to watch horror movies, or sci-fi movies, dealing with plagues, or general viral outbreaks? Or TV shows, or books... I'm not being too picky here. Just generally any kind of story we can find out there that has some kind of plague going on. What comes to mind for you? I'll throw out a few. If you have anything to say about any of these, or any movies of your own, fire away. I know there are shitloads of movies about vampire and zombie plagues, so I don't know whether to count too many of them. I included a few. I guess if they are of high quality, then include them? Your call.
Twelve Monkeys (1995, and also 2015-2018)
Contagion (2011)
Outbreak (1995)
The Stand (1994, and hopefully this year for the new version)
I Am Legend (2007)
The Last Man on Earth (1964)
The Omega Man (1971)
Quarantine (2008)
REC (2007)
Resident Evil (2002)
Daybreakers (2009)
Cabin Fever (2002)
28 Days Later (2002)
28 Weeks Later (2007)
Masque of the Red Death (1964)
The Decameron (1971)

Glen or Glenda?
Notice how they repeat themselves?
Hahaha. This is one bullshit movie. I actually kind of love it. It's my favorite Ed Wood movie, which probably doesn't say anything at all, because the dude sucked, but I love him. He was so passionate about this movie, even though this one was pretty biased towards his love of angora sweaters.
If you've ever watched the movie "Ed Wood", you'll know how the story goes. Somehow, he conned Bela Lugosi into being in this movie, because his fading star status meant enough... to Ed Wood, but not anyone else. But hell, it meant something to me, because I think Lugosi was the man.
It must have been controversy to have a movie like this come out back in the 50s, but this stuff is more controversy today if you don't accept it. I will admit, I have a strange fascination with transvestites. This movie has a lot of dumb information about them, trying to sway you into believing that their antics are justified. You can tell that Ed Wood feels that he's being wrongfully persecuted in making this movie, because he probably got a lot of shit for it when he was making it, but hey... I guess it had to be said, right? It probably paved the way for our current transgender rights stigma, but at least that shit hasn't been too overblown these days.
Honestly, I don't think transgenders should get special treatment. Sure, they ought to be accepted if they want to dress as they do, but I'm not going to go out of my way to make them feel "secure" in their provocative efforts, nor do I think they should be given special treatment because they say so. But this movie thinks so, and that's what makes it great. It's a documentary-style justification that turns into mindless drivel about satan and madness. They try to present their case so scientifically, but it's all biased. Oh my... what a movie.
"Airplanes...ha! Why it's against the Creator's will. If the Creator wanted us to fly, he'd have given us wings."
But we fly. Maybe some of you remember an even sillier remark:
"Automobiles? Ah...they scare the horses. If'n the Creator had meant for us to roll around the countryside, we'd have been born with wheels."
Silly? Certainly. We were not born with wings, we were not born with wheels. But in the modern world of today it's an accepted fact that we must have them. So we have corrected that which nature has not given us. Strangely enough, nature has given us all these things, we just had to learn how to put nature's elements together for our use, that's all. Yet the world is shocked by a sex change.
"If the Creator had wanted us to fly, he'd have given us wings."
"If the Creator had meant us to roll around the countryside, we'd have been born with wheels."
"If the Creator had meant us to be boys, we certainly would have been born boys."
Notice how they repeat themselves?

Phobias!
So I'm just sitting in my living room watching random YouTube videos and we stumble across a "what's my phobia" video to see if my boyfriend and I had any!
I definitely do and I just got curious if y'all had any crazy/weird phobias?!

Sister Wives
Hey guys, I have been watching some of sister wives lately, and I am curious. Do any of you guys watch the show? If so what do you think about the Brown Family.
I know polygamy is illegal, personally I do not think it should be. Watching this family, and the love they have for each other. How can anyone say no, that's not right? The kids are all happy, healthy, and growing up to bigger and better things. And they have a huge support system. They have their dad, and 4 moms.
Kody Brown has four wives, and a total of 18 kids. And watching them, they are just a normal family. They go through the same issues as monogamous families.
It baffles me that they get so much hatred. That they had to keep secret. I hope one day, they can legalize it in America, so families like the browns don't have to hide, and their kids can stop hiding.
If you don't watch the show, what is your take on it? Have you met any polygamists? Or lived around them.
I know this is a touchy subject, so please be respectful if you disagree with it.
