Killer Workout - Cheesy 1987 exercise slasher

Aka "Aerobicide", Killer Workout starts off with a bang. We have someone getting burned by a tanning bed, right off the bat. It's like that Final Destination shit, only better. Then, we jump right into the best reason to watch this movie... to watch these women exercise.

If you're anything like me, you'll find this stuff pretty hypnotic. God, there are some fine women in this movie. There's also a fat dude riding an exercise bike, but his fatness is only there to show us some contrast, so we can truly appreciate all the asses and big, bouncing titties in this movie.

It's easy to figure out what this premise would be. People are getting killed at the gym in various ways. Sometimes, it's a big hair pin, sometimes, it's with workout gear, like a weight. Sometimes, people aren't even getting killed, but rather just get the crap kicked out of them.

There are several moments where these beefcakes will beat the hell out of each other. Sometimes without a good reason, but who needs an explanation in a movie like this? The guy finds two bodies in the gym, and another guy sees him standing there and assumes he did, and immediately starts beating the shit out of him. It's great. Some of the fight scenes are pretty solid, and they do a good job making it look real cool.

So yeah... as you can guess, all the pretty people with good bodies are getting killed, and there's this generic detective trying to solve the murders that happen almost daily. Yet, the establishment never shuts down. Nobody cares, and they keep working out, and we get plenty of scenes of women working out, in super sexual poses. Great bodies, great tits, and the violence ain't bad either.

Surprisingly watchable 80s cheese that delivers everything you need for a slasher of this era. And, of course... when the movie ends, we get... more footage of these fine women working out. I can't complain.

So as a 25 year old white straight christian male, and brace your self for this, sometime I feel marganalized. Don't get me wrong, I know I was lucky to grow up middle class in sub-urban America. I lived in an affluent neighborhood, and yes I was born white and male. What get's me though is that someone how like 40% of the country thinks anything I do is not because of me but because of my identity they want to assign to me. I have the same issue with affermative action in many respects. I don't like telling a race "you need bonus points because they aren't as good as the whites but we still love you heres a job we say you dont really deserve please vote for us". Similarly, to say being a white male makes me privilleged tells everyone else born not a white male that they are disprivilleged. So here it is. I'm white and male and I'm proud. Not of those labels or the named identities, but of my self. I've worked hard and deserve everything I've got. And I'm also here to say that you can to if you actually do it. I'm happy to run alongside you, just don't ask me to slow down.

The Rocky Movies

For the past couple of months @box has been showing me the Rocky movies. I had never watched them before; and believe me, I am kicking myself in the ass for waiting this long to watch them. I loved every single moment of these movies. I am not a sports person, and usually do not like to watch any movies in which a sport is the main focus. But I gave it a shot and never looked back. This is definitely a series in which I hope continues, but if Creed II is the last one, then I am satisfied with the last movie. Creed II, in my opinion, is probably the second best of the series.

Idea for drafts.

So here it what I propose.

In the future I would like to have a draft going on regularly. More than one may be to much at first, but we may go up as the crowds grow.

So here's my proposal. We should create a single thread that will at as a queue for moderators/hosts to sign up and tell everyone what kind of draft they want to run. Once someone signs up they will then be added to the queue and we go in sequencial order, one, or maybe two, at a time. I've really enjoyed this music draft a lot and I think it would be cool to plan and formalise a plan to keep these going in the future and also give everyone who wants to run one a place to get in on it. Similarly I think we could have queue like this for the viewing challenges each month just to formalize and solidify who will be running what when and again to have a place people can sign up to run one. Let me know what you guys think.
