Booze and Alcohol
If you're a member of Trash Epics and you don't like drugs and/or alcohol, then you're in the wrong corner of the internet.
Me personally... I'd much rather get high, but alcohol is a fair substitute. There's nothing like a few shots to celebrate any ocassion, but beer is good at any time. It's good because it gets you buzzed, but it doesn't get you stupid drunk. Unless you drink a LOT.
I'm of the variety that doesn't care what I drink, so long as it does something to me, and doesn't taste completely horrible in the process. I'll grab a 40 oz bottle of whatever looks good at the convenient store (usually Steel Reserve, at a compelling 8% alcohol content), but I'm fine with Bud Ice, Rolling Rock, Pabst, Shiner, Dos Equis, whatever really.
The one time I went to Florida, I had a beer called Yuengling. Fuck, that stuff was good. I've been craving it ever since.
What do you drink? Talk about booze and alcohol.

Where do you go for your Horror news?
I ask because many news sites feature RSS feeds, which means I can "aggregate" (steal) this news directly from the site, and legally too, mind you.
When I update the site's news feed, I'm basically taking all this news from Bloody-Disgusting, DreadCentral, and Fangoria. Certain blogs come up with some cool shit too, like HalloweenLove, so I snag their news too. And I was anxious for Terminator news before Genisys came out, so I was grabbing a lot of news from TerminatorFans too.
What sites do you get your "news" from? And if you want that news to be automatically brought here to Trash Epics, look for the RSS icon on that site. If there is one, it can be done.

The Terrors of Television
Recently, I got cable, with a few months of those premium channels for free. Safe to say, I've been watching a lot of tv.
At the same time, I'm completely aware of how much the idiot box can brainwash you. I guess I've always enjoyed entertainment over anything else, so I let myself get brainwashed.
How much tv do you watch? And what kinda of crap do you tune into?

Terminator Genisys (2015)

Where do I begin? There's just so much to like and dislike about this one. It's difficult to form an opinion, or even come up with a fair rating. Firstly, this fifth installment (and semi-remake) of the Terminator franchise is a fun, action-packed movie which does try to give the Terminator fans everything they've wanted since 1991's Terminator 2. Well, it didn't exactly work out that way. Although, I think we can all agree that Genisys makes up for the dull, lackluster flop that was Salvation. Although, this one has its own problems. But also one big problem they both have in common. a PG-13 rating. So, once again, we're stuck with a Terminator movie which lacks the bleak, apocolyptic tone of the first two. As well as realistic profanity, decent violence and Arnold's ass. You can't have everything. But a fun movie with a fascinating concept nonetheless. But what we have here is a movie which was designed to cash in on a (hopefully) dying reboot trend, and at the same time, attempt to not piss off the longtime Terminator fans. Technically, Termintor Genisys is a reboot of the original movie. Yet, events from that movie are referenced. Therefore, this movie is no reboot. Let me explain.
With the exception of Salvation, all past Terminator movies are based on time travel. Yet, time travel was never a big part of the story. In this one, it is. In Genisys, we begin with what looks to be the culmination of the war against the machines, in 2029. The human race, led by John Connor, has defeated Skynet, the self-aware computer which nearly destroyed humanity decades earlier. Skynet makes one last attempt at saving itself. It sends a T-800 back to 1984. A time before John Connor was born. This T-800 has been programmed to track down and destroy John Connor's mother to be, Sarah Connor, which would erase John's existence all together. Erasing all he's done to take Skynet down. John Connor and the resistance learn of this attempt, and must quickly decide what to do. It's decided to send one of their soldiers, and John's good friend Kyle Reese, into the past to locate and hopefully destroy the T-800 and save Sarah, thus saving John, and all their progress. Sound familiar? Sure, it does. But this is where things get complicated.

At some point in the future, there has been more time travel that everyone is unaware of. Terminators have been sent back about a decade before the events of the first movie. A T-1000 has killed the parents of little Sarah Connor. And before it can get to her, a T-800 is sent by an unknown person to rescue Sarah, and to remain her guardian up until the events of the first movie. And this T-800, affectionally known as "pops", is also training Sarah into the badass bitch we remember from T2. Okay. Well, not exactly THAT Sarah. But damn, she's hot. The point is, the Sarah Connor Kyle is expecting no longer exists, as well as the 1984 we remember from the original movie. Everything's changed. The events of the original movie, as well as everything that happened afterwards, is gone. Or I guess it still exists somewhere in another timeline. Although, I doubt it even matters because regardless of how things go in this movie, I'm pretty sure we'll never get to see how things ended up in the original timeline. Which is one of my biggest gripes about this movie.
Pops has long since filled Sarah in on how things originally played out, including the T-800 sent back to 1984, as well as the fact that Kyle is to be the father of her unborn child, as well as his eventual demise at the hands of the T-800. But with this knowledge, and plenty of time to prepare, things can potentially go alot smoother this time around. And for a while, they do. Sarah, and Pops, who has aged drastically since 1974, quickly take out the T-800 before he has a chance to kill anyone. And soon, they catch up with Reese, who has ran into a much bigger problem than he expected. A T-1000 has found him, and is about to end him before an interesting twist of fate where he is saved by Sarah Connor. After lengthy discussion, filling Kyle in on exactly what the hell is going on, together, the three of them (a little too) easily dispose of the T-1000 in a very fun little scene. Well, that was easy. What next?

Well, Pops has been working on a time machine, which can now be completed using the chip from the T-800. He sends Sarah and Kyle to the year 2017 to prevent Judgement Day. Sarah is skeptical because it's been common knowledge from the beginning that Judgement day happens in 1997, except in Terminator 3, where it happened in 2004 for some reason. But that movie has been ignored all together, so, whatever. 2017 it is. But what they discover when they get there, none of us expected. That us, unless you watched the trailer and had it spoiled like pretty much everyone did.
As a longtime Terminator fan, there is an equal amount I loved and hated about this film. In a way, it succeeds in being the ultimate Terminator sequel, but also takes a big fat shit all over the Terminators of the past, erasing them from existence not unlike a traditional reboot. And also, the major cons for me, besides the lack of violence and the obvious catering to a younger audience, is the new John Connor and Kyle Reese. I can live with this new John with his big chin becuase every one of these movies has featured a different John Connor. But the new Kyle doesn't remind me of the original even a little bit. On the other hand, the choice made to replace Linda Hamilton with Game Of Thrones's Emilia Clarke, was a wise one. She actually does look a little like Hamilton. Nice, big lips and all. She's great. Really, she is. But she's kind of portrayed as a know-it-all little twat, who provides most of the cute one-liners. Yeah. I really miss the T2 version of Sarah. But it's not so bad. Like I said. she's got them nice, big dicksuckers.
Ultimately, Terminator Genisys is enjoyable if you don't put too much thought into what they've done to the story, or compare it to the first 2 installments. Instead just be grateful they didn't pick up where they left off with Salvation. A movie so unpopular that a new beginning has been forced upon us. But hey! We've got Arnold back, as well as Sarah. Kyle Reese lives, and Nick Stahl is nowhere to be found. And despite raping the franchise, Genisys is okay with me. 6/10

Cannibal Holocaust (1980)
Ahhh, it's about time I tacked this movie. This iconic masterpiece. For many years I wanted to see this legendary movie. My love for controversial films had me noticing this flick mentioned time and time again. By this point, I was dabbling with the extreme and notorious, and this movie was always on my radar, but always out of reach. Back when I was in my teens, downloading movies was such a foreign concept to me, and this movie was still banned in Australia. Curse you, damn Aussie censors! Curse you all!!!!

Fortunately, the ban lifted in 2005, but I was still unable to locate a copy, and was too cheap to pay the $50 it cost from my local video shop, so alas, me seeing the legendary Cannibal Holocaust wasn't to be.
Until one fateful day when I in my room, minding my own business, when my father came in with a whole stack of movies.
"My mate at work just gave me all these flicks he obtained, there's some horrors in there if you're interested".
He left them on my bedside table, and out he went. I hobbled over and gave them a skim. Every time my dad's mate gave him movies, they were usually very mainstream, or just really lame, but I'll never knock back free movies, so what the hell!
As I flicked through them, my eyes caught hold of the all so famous cover of Cannibal Holocaust. I couldn't believe it. Cannibal Holocaust! I finally had it in my hands, and my own father had delivered it to me!!!
I love my dad.

What proceeded next would only secure my love for exploitation and extreme cinema. I had already seen Irreversible at this point, but not much else when it came to extreme cinema. But here was a movie that was argued to have been banned almost everywhere, had the director taken to court, and featured on almost every 'Λmost disturbing list' ever made. I couldn't wait to watch it.
This movie follows a rescue crew who travel into the Amazon, looking for a documentary crew who went missing. Directed by Ruggero Deodato, this amazing piece of cinema was not the first cannibal exploitation flick, in fact, quite a few had already been made by this point, but it's certainly the most well known. There is a reason for this. Cannibal exploitation flicks are either made with comedic overtone, or gritty and tribal atmosphere. Cannibal Holocaust went the latter route, and made it as grimy and unsettling as possible. Using various filming techniques, including the shaky cam, which would later become very successful film making, Deodato created a very voyeuristic flick which tacked some very important concepts, such as the ethical consequences of journalism, and the state of humanity when faced with greed. Add to that, the very taboo scenes of graphic brutality, sexual violence, and genuine violence toward animals, and you have one fucked up movie. And one marvellous movie at that.

After it was first shown in Italy, Deodato was arrested and charged with making a snuff film because people believed the actors were actually killed on camera. Idiots. Deodato was later cleared but the film was banned in almost everywhere after it. And so begins its notoriety. When will the censors learn, if you don't want someone to see something, don't ban it, you'll only get it more attention. Idiots!
One of the most iconic things about this movie, is the score. Probably one of my favourite scores I have ever heard in any movie, it switches between that beautiful melody coupled with the gorgeous scenery, and an unsettling creepiness which could unnerve you completely during the disturbing scenes. The music really helped to establish an atmosphere. No doubt it helped to make it as memorable as it is today. And those iconic disturbing shots, as well as the disturbing ending, no doubt pushed so many boundaries for us cinema lovers, horror exploitation fans will forever rejoice for seeing realistic looking carnage.

One thing I should say, as much as I love this movie, and all the cannibal exploitation movies, the animal killings does bother me some. While it certainly adds to the gritty and voyeuristic feel of the movie, it really didn't add anything for me personally. I tend to fast forward these scenes myself, being the animal lover that I am. However, I certainly won't boycott these movies for it and pretend I don't eat meat. But I do wish the animal killings were faked. Oh well, such is life.
If you haven't seen Cannibal Holocaust, watch it now! For the pure reason that it's one of those movies you just have to see. If the animal violence does go against your morals, there are copies which feature an animal cruelty free version. But this movie is rated highly for a reason. Long live cannibal exploitation!
Thankyou.

White Rose Campus: Then Everybody Gets Raped
You know what I hate? Misleading titles. I'm looking at you, Bill Zebub with your flick Jesus Christ Serial Rapist. Shame!
But you know what I love? Movies that are totally not misleading. White Rose Campus: The Everyone Gets Raped, is a very honest title. I know you think I'm making this title up, but I promise you I'm not, it's just Japanese;)

This movie is very much what you see is what you get. On a school trip, three freaks hijack onto a bus and molest/rape all the female students and their teacher. Any ugly students are kindly excused form the bus, as they will not be taking any part in their raping advertures. Unfortunately for the pretty ones, their excusion has only just begun.
Now meanwhile, the ugly students are picked up by some truck drivers. After telling them what had happened, they proceed to try and find the bus. Can they reach the bus in time before all the little ladies are violated?
This movie really cannot be taken seriously. Rape is terrible crime, but here we got a rapist that loves sniffing womans' used tampons, come on, this is way too OTT to be taken seriously. His performance is so erratic, it'll be hard to imagine this guy ever getting laid in real life. I mean look at this guy, he's got undies on his head!

At an hour and 5 mins running time, it's a very short and sleazy flick, it gets it's job done. Don't worry about acting or cinematography, or even a decent plot, cos that's all we get here. But for a Japanese rapesploitation, it's a pretty fun one at that.
Not much more I can say about this one, but if anyone wants a link to watch it online, you'll find it at Veehd, subbed.
Here on trash epics, we talk about a lot of trash. Some are good trash, some are not. This one really isn't good trash, but it's funny and entertaining, so if you have an hour to kill, why not watch some brainless japanese fluff.
Enjoy.

Survey: Social Networking
These days, every social networking site can be implemented in a web site. I don't use these much because I'm not a social enough person, and I'd like to put my focus here obviously. Yet some of them have convenient aspects about them that make them less worthless to us.
I have some image files for social networking icons, and I think it'd be a shame to let them go to waste if they could somehow prove useful to TE, so tell us trash addicts...
What are your thoughts on these "popular" things?
And which do you have accounts for?
My Thoughts?
I'm not gonna lie. I haven't even heard of some these, so I'll share my opinions on the ones I do know:
DeviantArt - Mostly just perverts drawing out their fetishes. I can't say there's anything wrong with that. I don't really draw, so it's kind of useless to me.
Dropbox - Some kind of file transfer site?
Facebook https://www.facebook.com/TrashEpics - Useful for staying in touch with family and whatnot, but it's so plain. I have an account, and TrashEpics has an account, though I have no plans for it.
Flickr - Just another gallery site, as far as I'm aware...
Google+ - I have an account, but that's only so I can use youtube. It seems like a rip-off of facebook, but more people use facebook. So fuck off, Google+.
Instagram - Take pics, filter them, and upload them. I think this is probably meant for teen girls. I don't take selfies, so it's kind of useless to me, but the concept is good. I fucked around with a webcam/phone-cam snapshot system, so I've already built half of what I assume Instagram is.
MySpace - Obsolete, right? Does anyone still use this? Back in the day, it was pretty fuckin' awesome though. I loved how people could customize the code in their profiles. However, that was also a curse, as some people have absolutely no style. Since TE is tiny enough to manage, I've allowed the trash zones to retain this type of customization.
PayPal - I have an account... but I've never used it. It seems promising, but it's really just there for donations. Of course, nobody is ever going to donate, but that's another story! π
Pinterest - It's popular... but I don't know WTF it is!
RSS https://trashepics.com/feed/rss.php - This is more for nerd coders, but if you like a site that has RSS feeds, then we can steal that site's news article! That's what I do for the NEWS section. TrashEpics has its own newsfeed too (user posts), and user's can add news too. I'll usually just clear it all after a certain point though, since there's no need to save another site's news.
Skype - This sounds interesting, and I know @Troma and @Shaza have used this to videochat with trash epics' hero Chris Seaver. Hopefully, they can elaborate on the functionality of this one.
Tumblr - Photo gallery. I use it for porn, and since I love tits so much, I just use the TrashEpics tumblr to reblog some awesome tits. I believe it's possible for others to post on this tumblr's account, but I've never looked into it. If you find a sexy trash can, or some juicy succulent garbage bags... or porn... then feel free to try and reblog it.
Twitter https://twitter.com/TrashEpics - Perhaps the worst of them all, designed to simplify people's thoughts into pointless "tweets" of vanity. TrashEpics has an account, but I really don't care to post things on it.
Vimeo - An alternate video site. I only know it because Tyler Hosley posts videos there.
WordPress - Used for websites and comments I think. I've never used it, because I just build the damn stuff myself.
Yahoo - Not as popular as it used to be, but I still have email with them.
YouTube https://www.youtube.com/user/TrashEpics - Everyone uses youtube. It's pretty much the universal video site. They have too many ads though.

Orozco the Embalmer
An embalmer is a person who temporarily preserves and beautifies a corpse so that it may be ready for a funeral procession. It is a job I don't think I could ever handle. Despite my love for extreme horror, I am very aware of the differences between what is real and what is fake. I can watch a brutal horror movie without batting an eyelid, but watching a read dead corpse unsettles me. Apart from the natural squeamish reaction to the autopsies and the handling of a dead body, I think I would be overcome with sadness to see what's left of a person with no life left in them. But it is a job that needs to be done, for both hygienic purposes often cultural ones too, and much respect to those who perform this job with much care and attention.

This documentary shows the everyday life of Froilan Orozco, an embalmer working in the poor areas of Columbia. This area is filled with violence and rubbish, human life is wasted every day. Where poverty is high, there is a general feeling of hopelessness. But despite it all, Orozco worked everyday, and during his lifetime, embalmed more than 50,000 corpses for an exceptionally cheap price. He cared more about the corpses he was preparing then about his own health. Orozco was an exceptional man.
I can't imagine many jumping the gun to watch this movie. It's harsh, it's unflinching, it's depressing. It's Six Feet Under, in the most harsh and unforgiving area ever. The camera does not shy away from the practise of embalming, it shows it in full detail again and again, all the while, listening to the wisdom's of Orozco as he talks about his job, life and death. Those who struggle with the harsh realities of life will no doubt struggle watching this movie. But, it's a movie which I highly recommend. This film is not exploitative, it's honest film making. You watch this movie for Orozco. It's his compassion and care for his work that makes this very depressing movie, almost seem beautiful. An old man putting as much care as he can into death, it's really quite touching. No doubt there are many people who cut corners in this type of field, and doesn't that thought just make you sick to your stomache. The movie Aftermath shows an extreme example as such. But a man like Orozco really inspires such admiration. He is the reason to watch this documentary. He brings a certain optimism to an incredibly bleak and depressing reality.

It's hard to recommend this to anyone, but it is a flick that I recommend just the same. Cinema doesn't get more powerful than this. A man like Orozco is truly one of a kind. I hope I am treated with as much respect after death as those he cared for. I take my hat off to you, Orozco. May you forever be remembered.
